Free Trade Zones (FTZ) are secured, designated locations in the United States in or near a U.S. Customs Port of Entry where foreign and domestic merchandise is generally considered to be in international commerce and outside of US Customs territory. As a result, activated businesses in an FTZ can reduce or eliminate duty on imports and take advantage of other benefits to encourage foreign commerce within the United States.
Duties are only paid when imported merchandise enters U.S. Customs territory. Goods may be held without payment of duty in an FTZ until sold, allowing for improved cash flow.
There are no duties on labor overhead, or profit to operations performed within an FTZ.
There are no duties on FTZ merchandise that is exported, transferred to another zone, or destroyed. This eliminates the need to manage costly and time consuming duty drawback programs.
Customs allow for weekly entry processing, which benefits importers because they pay a single entry fee and may realize significant MPF savings.
FTZ Georgia is inside the McIntosh County’s Tidewaters Industrial Park in Darien Georgia, which is located directly off Interstate 95, one of the nation’s major business corridors. We are developing approximately 20 acres of FTZ land. All utilities are in place, including an 8” water main, 10” sewer main and 4” gas main. The Port of Brunswick’s Mayor’s Point Terminal is just 21 miles from the Tidewaters Park and Savannah’s ports and international airports are within 50 miles.
A shovel ready site in Darien Georgia with robust infrastructure that presents opportunities for developers, manufacturers, warehouse operators, distributors and more who are involved with international business.
Take a virtual tour of the Park provided by Tidewaters Industrial Park Development Authority
About 20 acres of the park are available for development into FTZ for warehouse, distribution, manufacturing and offices to support your business to success. Site master planning is completed and Phase I is under construction.
Site Selection magazine ranked Georgia “No. 1 for Business” eight years running (2013-20). That’s based on an analysis of announced projects, the state’s tax climate and a thorough survey of site selection professionals. Home to a highly-educated workforce and continual investments in new infrastructure, Georgia is the ideal choice when it comes to starting or expanding your business.
The industrial Park is ideally situated for manufacturing, import and export, thanks to its proximity to all transportations. The Park sits midway between two major commercial and industrial centers and midway between avenues of transport worldwide.
The Park is near Brunswick port GA, and is in between of Jacksonville port FL and Savannah port GA. The Port of Savannah is the fastest-growing deep water container port and the second largest port on the east coast of the United States. It has developed road and rail transport. Containers can be directly lifted to trains and transported to various inland areas, and there are freighters directly to South America.
I-95 is one mile from the entrance to the Park, I-16 is 50 miles north on I-95 and I-10 is 75 miles south on I-95.
Only 17 minutes from the Park is the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport which offers three daily flights to Hartsfield – Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Savannah International Airport and the Jacksonville International Airport are all within one hour drive.
